Since its creation, F. Chauvenet has reflected its attachment to and respect for the Burgundian terroir in the making of its wines.
Deep carmine red with purplish glints. Fresh aromas of crushed raspberries, and floral notes of violet and peony. It is an extremely fruity wine of great delicacy with a silky texture that subtly overlies its full round structure. This Fleurie strikes with its freshness and its full-bodied structure with beautiful tannins and a long spicy finish with aromas of liquorice.
Serve with roast lamb, rabbit, poultry, cheeses and the traditional Fleurie “andouillette”.
Serve between 16° and 18°C.
Recommend to keep in cellar about 2 to 6 years.
A traditional Beaujolais vinification with whole bunches under controlled temperatures (22 to 28°C) is applied. The grapes macerated for 8 to 15 days so that the juice would get strong aromas, good color and tannins from the skin but not too much.
In the northern part of the Beaujolais, on the granitic soil of the slopes surrounding Fleurie, the vineyards of Fleurie produce the most feminine of all the Beaujolais wines, also known as the “Queen of Beaujolais”. According to the local tradition this is due to the influence of the Virgin of Fleurie who watches over the vines from the hilltop where she stands. Vines grow on a soil made of pink granite that contains mica and quartz particles.
